Recently, SSIAM received reports of scams where individuals impersonated SSIAM to sell investment products through apps or other means. People were approached through tele sales or personally reached out to scammers after seeing fraudulent ads on social media. The scammers claimed to be SSIAM's customer care and/or investment specialists and operated on platforms like Zalo and Telegram.
They guided individuals to deposit money into a separate investment app by transferring funds directly into a personal banking account. The scammers would then periodically open the app to show individuals that the deposited amount has been successfully deposited. However, individuals could not log into the account on their own; they had to ask the scammers for help. The promises of large profits, up to 24 times the invested capital (starting at 100 million VND), also came with a 20% service fee. Transactions were “guaranteed” with false contracts that promises up to nearly 3 billion VND in profits and investment capital insurance.
Aiming to deceive people further before discovery, the scammer convinced people to deposit additional income tax, contract retention fee, and service fee, etc. when they tried to withdraw their 'profits’. After meeting withdrawal conditions, individuals experienced technical issues, like bank information errors, along with the scammers refusing to resolve them.
Forged contracts and personals were crafted carefully with signatures and organization seals from real SSIAM profiles to increase credibility. SSIAM emphasizes the following points to caution potential investors:
- Be wary of products promising unrealistically high profits.
- Avoid transferring investment capital to personal banking accounts.
- Be suspicious if urged to sign contracts or transfer money under a time limit, or when there are conditions accompanying capital or profit withdrawal.
